So, Woody Allen famously said, “80% of success is showing up”.
I think he’s wrong. It’s more like 95%. But I’m not here to nitpick about numbers with Woody!
But there are times when we don’t feel like showing up.
Sometimes I don’t feel like showing up. Quite literally sometimes! Last summer I’d said yes to an event, but come the day I didn’t feel like going. I didn’t feel like being social. I was just in one of those moods where I couldn’t be bothered. But because I’d said yes and people were expecting me, I showed up. And that day I met someone who has become a good friend and know we are talking about doing some work together too.
That’s just one example.
But it’s not just about showing up in person.
It’s about showing up in your work. It’s about showing up online. It’s about showing up for your clients. It’s about showing up for YOU and your goals.
The Big Daring Business Academy has been a dream of mine for a long time, but guess what I did? I got in my own way! I didn’t show up. Yes, that happens to me too!
I hesitated. I got busy with other things. I put it in my ‘one day’ folder. The weeks and months went by. I found reasons not to show up and create my academy; “Oh, I haven’t got a big enough audience”, I thought.
And then I caught myself on – what the hell was I doing delaying one of my dreams and goals?
What on earth was I waiting for?
We owe it to ourselves to live our lives full-out and not half-lived.
THIS right here is me taking action, no matter what.
I’m showing up.
There has never been a better time to achieve what you want in your life and business!
You’ve got everything you need right now, and if you doubt that then you’ve got to remember the first step in making stuff happen; you’ve got to SEE it happening. You’ve got to imagine it! Get excited about it.
Then you’ve got to SHOW UP. And keep on showing up. Not just 80% like Woody says!
I get tired. I still have moments where I think it would be easier not to do something than to do it. It would be easier to skip a step. But then I remember my commitment to myself and my business goals and if I skip something, then I’m only hurting myself.
When you show up, when you take those extra steps, when you say yes and commit yourself to something, shifts begin to happen.
