Two words that are holding you back from success

Two words that are holding you back from success

When I…

When I’ve done more research I’ll do it.

When I’ve given things more thought I’ll make a start.

When I have have my partner’s permission I’ll begin.

When I’ve lost weight I’ll launch.

When it’s the new year I will change.

How many of these ‘When I…’ games do you play with your dreams and goals?

They are self sabotaging. They keep you safe. They keep you in the same place. They keep you feeling like you will never make any progress towards your goals.

Ditch the When I! Instead…

I’ll do it.

I’ll make a start.

I’ll begin.

I’ll launch.

I’ll change.

Listen, if you really want to acheive more in your life and get to your goals, you really have to stop thinking, waiting and finding reasons to delay and take action.

Who do you want to be?

Be it!

Adopt the attitude of the person you want to be.

Adopt the actions of the person you want to be.

Speak like the person you want to be.

When you do that….you BECOME THAT!

You have to take personal responsibility and make it your personal mission to create the life you want.

Two words that are holding you back from success

It isn’t easy. I was speaking to someone last week about building my business and ways I want to grow and succeed, and she said ‘If it was easy, everyone would be doing it’.

It’s true. It isn’t easy. But it’s not impossible!

When you have that passion, that voice that just won’t shut up and keeps reminding you about what you want, you have to be brave.

You have to get past fears that are debilitating;

  • Fear of what people will think – forget about them
  • Fear of failure – you will fail if you don’t try anything
  • Fear of being judged – you are already being judged every day
  • Fear that you don’t deserve it – yes, you do

There will be bumps in your road to success, but they are never, ever permanent.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I’ve had a life years ago where I worked for businesses that sucked the life out me. I played it safe. I didn’t know I had options or what alternatives I had. No-one told me, ‘Karen, you can be whatever you want to be!’. I’m telling you that now. YOU can be and do anything you want to be.

I made my escape from a life half-lived in a job that made me ill and now I follow my passions and interests and I’ve swapped ‘security’ and ‘safety’, but is my life more fulfilling now? YES. Do I love Mondays and look forward to the day? YES. Do I get to decide who I spend my time with and work with? YES. Do I get the biggest kick out of every success I have, every happy client I work with, every time I earn my own money? YES!

I’m sharing this because I see far too many people doing things they don’t like, and working for other people’s dreams and I want you to know that there are alternatives.

No else is going to do it, but you.

In the world we live in now, the people and resources we have access to, the wealth of stories and inspiration we have at hand, there is no reason that you cannot drop the ‘When I’ and get started, create an interesting life and take control.

What has been the thing that stopped holding you back?

What are your tips for getting unstuck and getting started?
